Cinque Terra — Which means ‘Five Land’. A place on the west coast of Italy where I travelled recently. These five beautiful fishing villages are on top of the mountains right next to the sea. They are very well connected to each other by land, sea and railway.

I explored this place for 3 days and can’t explain how thrilled and excited I was during that time. There’s something magical about this place. Stunning views of the sea, beautiful mountains, fresh air, pure water, chirping sounds of birds, soothing sound of subtle waves, lively people and good food.

Experiences like these can be found anywhere in the world. But what is unique about this place is how mankind has adapted these mountains for a living. Did you notice how the houses were built in all five villages? Standing tall next to each other hugging shoulder-to-shoulder. These houses were talking to me. They want to say that whatever may happen we all are here together for each other. To laugh, celebrate and rest on each other’s shoulders during difficult times. They all are together tightly packed as one family — one big family.

It’s not heard. it’s not clearly seen but can only be felt when you walk around the streets of these villages. For me, Cinque Terra is not just a place. It’s an inspiration that tells how humans are supposed to be.
